Your Bio

These galleries contain a growing collection of neighborhood images and architecture. The archival material has been scanned from the original film negatives and slides with a Nikon Super Coolscan 9000. The Hasselblad Super Wide Camera was used for most of the content and continues to be my camera of choice, hense the moniker wideimaging. For material before 1973 a Nikon FTN w/50mm lens was used and in 2011 I added a Nikon D5100, with an 18-55mm lens, in some of the more difficult to shoot places, for its light weight design. I have also expanded the collection to include some photos that have been loaned to me for restoration, if they compliment the gallery or add to the story behind a picture (noted as pre 1970). I continue to review and re-post photos, as both enhancement software and scanning hardware are always improving. That some pictures make for better history than art has been part of the criteria for their inclusion here.
A little about myself:
As a civil engineer with a background in imaging I have sought to photograph elements that tie neighborhoods together with their landmarks. Now in its fifth year this site has been averaging over 15,000 visits a month, helping me to define an advocacy for landmarks preservation.
