The images in this gallery capture Flushing from the 1950's to the present. Many photos were taken from the same location over this span of time, they show both enduring landmarks and dramatic change. Since starting this site over 4 years ago I have been continuing to get a great response for pictures from my old home town, now averaging about 10,000-20,000 views a month. I will be revising an expanded version of a Flushing History photobook for 2012 so keep posted. Requests and comments are always welcome!

The Bowne House 1661 (perhaps earlier than 1652), the oldest house in in Queens and probably the oldest house in New York City. Shown here with a tarp over the roof, peeling paint and water damage, from November 11, 2008.
A small patch of original Flushing still exists, where you wouldn't know what century you were in: The Bowne House 1661, from October 8, 2009.
Site once occupied by Peck's art supplies, one of the longest lasting businesses on Main Street, (36-18) serving local schools since 1929. This photo looks through the entire block to Prince street toward the Ebenezer Baptist Church, November 7, 2008.
