Flushing Archives

The images in this gallery capture Flushing from the 1950's to the present. Many photos were taken from the same location over this span of time, they show both enduring landmarks and dramatic change. Since starting this site over 4 years ago I have been continuing to get a great response for pictures from my old home town, now averaging about 10,000-20,000 views a month. I will be revising an expanded version of a Flushing History photobook for 2013 so keep posted. Requests and comments are always welcome!

If you pulled off those white plaques I'm sure you'd find the letters LUMS underneath. I always thought those two window cutouts to the left had a sarcophagus look to them.

From December 5, 2008. The incredible "Courtyard Condo" shown here a full year and a half after completion and still no occupants! If the windows behind this thing were open the unfortunate residents in back could see right through it.
The "Linden Place" is a large event space and banquet hall, with a ballroom dance floor, gilt dome ceiling and faux "European " paintings that decorate the walls. The Dim Sum isn't so bad and the kitschy decor can be kind of charming. There's a parking garage and a large variety of rooms, complete with plush Victorian chairs, that can accommodate a number of parties.
